Epson EcoTank printing blank pages (ET-2800, ET-2850 and similar): how to fix it
An Epson EcoTank that prints blank pages is almost never out of ink and almost never broken. Most of the time the tiny nozzles in the print head are dried or clogged, the first ink charge did not finish, or the computer is sending the wrong settings. Work through these steps in order and print a test page after each one.

Steps
Look at the ink tanks on the front of the printer. Each color should be above the lower line. If one is low, refill it with genuine Epson ink for your model, matching the bottle color to the tank.
Restart the printer. Turn it off with the power button, unplug it from the wall for 60 seconds, then plug it into a wall outlet, not a power strip, and turn it on.
Run a nozzle check. On Windows open Settings, then Bluetooth and devices, then Printers and scanners, click your Epson, choose Printing preferences, open the Maintenance tab, and click Nozzle Check. On a Mac open the Epson Printer Utility. On an ET-2850 you can also start it from the printer screen under Maintenance. Gaps or missing lines in the pattern mean clogged nozzles.
Clean the print head. On the same Maintenance tab or menu, choose Head Cleaning, wait for it to finish, then run another nozzle check. You can do this up to three times in a row.
If the pattern is still missing lines after three cleanings, turn the printer off and let it rest for at least 12 hours. Dried ink often softens overnight. Then run one more nozzle check and cleaning.
If this is a brand new printer, make sure the first ink charge finished. After the tanks are filled for the first time, the printer needs several minutes to fill the print head, and it should not be turned off during that time. If it was interrupted, see the setup guide for your model at epson.com/support.
Check the document and settings. Try printing something simple, like a single page of text from Notepad or TextEdit. In Printing preferences make sure the paper size and paper type match the paper in the tray, and that the print quality is not set to a draft or ink saving mode.
Update or reinstall the driver. Type epson.com/support yourself, search your exact model, and install the full driver for your computer. Then remove the printer from Printers and scanners and add it again.
Print weekly from now on. EcoTank printers clog when they sit unused. Printing one color page a week keeps ink moving through the nozzles.
Never call a printer support number from a popup, an ad, or a site that is not epson.com. Epson head cleaning is free, and fake support lines often ask for remote access or payment.
Common questions
Why is my EcoTank printing blank pages when the tanks are full?
Ink in the tanks does not mean ink is reaching the paper. Clogged or dried print head nozzles are the usual cause, and a nozzle check plus head cleaning usually fixes it.
How many head cleanings should I run?
Up to three in a row, with a nozzle check after each. If it is still not clear, let the printer rest at least 12 hours before trying again, since extra cleanings use a lot of ink.
Can I print a nozzle check on an ET-2800 with no screen?
Yes. Run it from your computer: on Windows it is under Printing preferences, then Maintenance, and on a Mac it is in the Epson Printer Utility.
Do I need a new printer?
Usually not. Most blank page problems clear up with cleaning and rest. If the nozzle check never improves after a rest, contact Epson support directly through epson.com.
Can Ellis help me with this?
Yes. Ellis can talk you through each step by phone while you sit at the printer, and will never ask for your passwords or bank details. Ellis is an AI assistant, and it will tell you so.
