Steps

  1. Do not call the number. Do not click anything in the popup.
  2. Close the browser with Alt+F4 on Windows, or Command+Q on a Mac. If it will not close, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc on Windows to open Task Manager, select the browser and click End task.
  3. Reopen the browser. If it asks to restore the last session, choose no.
  4. Open the browser settings and clear the last hour of browsing data, and remove any extension you do not recognize.
  5. Run a scan with Windows Security, or Malwarebytes Free on a Mac or PC.
  6. If you already called and let someone connect to your computer or paid them, change your passwords from a clean device, call your bank right away, and remove the remote access program they had you install.
