Steps

  1. On an iPhone or iPad that is signed in, open Settings, tap your name, then Sign-In & Security, then Change Password.
  2. No signed in device? Go to iforgot.apple.com on any browser and enter your Apple ID email.
  3. Apple will ask you to confirm a phone number you used before. It then sends a code by text or to a trusted device.
  4. If you no longer have the trusted phone number, choose the option for account recovery. Apple waits several days before restoring access to protect you from thieves, so start it early.
  5. After the reset, sign in again on each device when asked. Updating the password in Settings on each device avoids repeated prompts.
