Steps

  1. Go to accounts.google.com/signin/recovery and enter your email. Answer the recovery questions on a device and from a place you normally use.
  2. Use the recovery email or phone Google offers. If none works, keep trying from your usual home device and network.
  3. Once you are in, open myaccount.google.com, then Security, and change the password. Pick a new one you have never used.
  4. Under Security, review Your devices and sign out anything you do not recognize.
  5. Turn on 2-Step Verification using the Google prompt or an authenticator app.
  6. Check Settings, See all settings, Forwarding, and Filters for rules the thief may have added.
  7. Change the password on any other account that used the same one.
