Quick fixes that solve a lot
Restart the phone. Hold the side or power button, then choose restart or power off and back on.
Install updates. iPhone: Settings, General, Software Update. Android: Settings, System, Software update (the name varies by brand).
Storage full? iPhone: Settings, General, iPhone Storage. Android: Settings, Storage. Start with large videos and apps you never use.
Texts or calls not working
Check that Airplane mode is off and you have signal bars.
iPhone: Settings, Apps, Messages, and check iMessage is on. Turn it off and on if messages to one person fail.
Android: open the Messages app settings and make sure it is the default messaging app.
If one contact cannot reach you, check you have not blocked their number by accident.
Photos and new phones
