Wi-Fi trouble? Figure out first whether it is one device or the whole house.
If every device is offline, the problem is the modem, the router, or your provider. If only one device is offline, the problem is that device. That one check saves a lot of time.
Want someone to talk you through it? Call Ellis, our AI phone assistant. The first 5 minutes are free, no card needed. If you want more time, it is $19 one time for up to 30 minutes of phone help, used over 14 days. No subscription.
Want Ellis to work on your computer with you, only after you say it is okay? $79 one time, up to 60 minutes. Both are refundable anytime: just ask with a reason at joe@adorellc.pro or text 928-272-0355.
A real caller rated Ellis 10 out of 10 in October 2026, after a Mac sign-in error that blocked their design software was fixed in one 25 minute call.
Nothing in the house has internet
Look at the lights on the modem. A red or blinking light usually means the line from the provider is down.
Unplug the modem and the router for 30 seconds. Plug in the modem first, wait two minutes, then the router.
Check your provider app or status page for an outage in your area.
Still down after 10 minutes? Call your provider. Ellis can help you describe the lights and what you tried, so the call is shorter.
One device will not connect
Turn Wi-Fi off and on on that device, or restart it.
Forget the network on that device, then join again and type the password carefully. Capital letters matter.
If it is a printer or smart plug, it may only join the 2.4 GHz band. Your router app can split the bands into two names.
Turn off any VPN on the device and test again.
Slow in some rooms
Move the router out of cabinets and off the floor, as close to the middle of the home as you can.
Restart the router once a month. It helps more than people think.
For large homes, a mesh Wi-Fi kit usually fixes dead zones better than a plug-in extender.
Ellis tells you it is an AI, then asks what is going on.
It gives you one step at a time and waits. You can interrupt, ask it to repeat, or ask it to slow down.
After 5 free minutes, you choose: hang up, or pay $19 one time for up to 30 minutes of phone help.
