Hearing aid Bluetooth and phone help for senior living residents

Many residents now wear hearing aids that connect to an iPhone or Android phone over Bluetooth. When it works, calls stream straight into the hearing aids. When it stops working after an update, a new phone or a battery change, the resident often stops answering calls altogether, and family members start to worry.

Most of these problems are phone settings, not hearing problems, and a patient helper can usually walk a resident through them by phone.

Give residents patient help with hearing aid phone settings, captions and volume as part of your amenity list. Ellis is $499 a month per community, with a 30 day pilot and month to month after that.

Ellis is an AI assistant, not a person, and says so at the start of every call. Calling the number from any phone gets the first 5 minutes free, so you can test it with a real device problem before you decide.

Phone and hearing questions residents ask

Why it matters to operators

  1. Residents who can hear their calls stay in touch with family, which families notice.
  2. Front desk and nursing staff get fewer phone settings questions that are not really clinical.
  3. It is a practical resident amenity to mention on tours, alongside your activities and dining.
  4. Families get one more reason to feel their parent is supported, without anyone promising a specific outcome.

Where Ellis fits

Ellis is a patient AI phone helper. A resident or a family member calls (928) 272-0355 and Ellis walks through the phone side of the problem one step at a time: Bluetooth and accessibility settings, captions, volume and the hearing aid app. It says up front that it is an AI, speaks slowly and clearly, repeats as often as needed, and never asks for passwords or card numbers.

Ellis does not adjust, program or diagnose hearing aids and gives no audiology or medical advice. If the hearing aid itself seems faulty or the resident cannot hear well with it, Ellis tells them to contact their audiologist or hearing aid provider and lets your staff know through the usual channels you choose.

Questions operators ask

Can Ellis pair any brand of hearing aid?

Ellis can walk through pairing for hearing aids that connect to iPhone or Android using the phone settings or the maker app. Some models need the hearing care provider to set them up first, and Ellis will say so.

How does a resident with hearing loss use a phone line?

Ellis speaks slowly and clearly and repeats steps, and residents can use speakerphone or a captioned phone. A family member or staff member can also call on the resident's behalf.

Is this a medical or audiology service?

No. Ellis is tech help only. It is not a HIPAA covered service and gives no audiology or medical advice, so callers are asked not to share health details.
