Every January, senior living staff see the same thing: residents come back from family visits with a new iPhone, iPad, Kindle or digital photo frame, and the family member who set it up has already flown home.
A phone number residents can call any hour for patient, step by step setup help means the new gift actually gets used, and your front desk and activities team are not the help desk for every new device.
Give residents a patient number to call when the new gift device arrives. Ellis is $499 a month per community, with a 30 day pilot and month to month after that.
Ellis is an AI assistant, not a person, and says so at the start of every call. Calling the number from any phone gets the first 5 minutes free, so you can test it with a real device problem before you decide.
What residents call about after the holidays
Moving contacts and photos from an old phone to the new one.
Getting a new tablet onto the apartment Wi-Fi.
Setting up email, text size, ringer volume and the lock screen.
Getting a digital photo frame to show the photos family sends.
Video calls with grandchildren on the new device.
Checking whether a "your new device needs protection" message is a scam.
How it works for a community
Put one number, (928) 272-0355, on a "Got a new device?" flyer for the lobby, the in house TV channel and the January newsletter.
Residents call any hour and Ellis talks them through setup on their own device, one step at a time, as long as it takes.
If something needs hands on help or is a building issue, Ellis tells the resident to contact your staff, so your team stays the escalation point.
Why communities add it before the holidays
The January rush of new device questions does not land on the front desk.
Families on holiday visits hear about a resident tech help line they can count on after they leave.
Residents stay connected with family through the winter, when visits drop off.
We aim for happier, more connected residents. We do not promise occupancy numbers.

Limits
Ellis is an AI assistant, not a person. It says so at the start of every call, and it can make mistakes.
It is for tech help only. It is not a HIPAA covered service and we do not sign business associate agreements, so callers are told not to share health details, Social Security numbers or card numbers.
It does not dispatch anyone or work on site. When a problem needs hands on help, Ellis tells the caller to ask your front desk or activities team, and your staff stay the escalation point.
It is not an emergency line. For anything urgent or medical, residents use your staff or call 911.
Calls are recorded and transcribed, and Ellis says so. A caller can press 2 or ask it not to save the call.
Questions operators ask
Can Ellis set up the device for the resident?
Ellis talks the resident through each step on the phone. It cannot touch the device, so the resident or a family member taps the buttons while Ellis explains.
Does Ellis connect to our systems?
No. Ellis does not connect to any of your systems or resident records. It only helps residents with their own devices.
Is there a contract?
There is a 30 day pilot and then it is month to month at $499 a month per community.
Is Ellis a person?
No. Ellis is an AI assistant and says so at the start of every call.
